One Amazing Purse and One Leaky Roof.

Source: etsy.com via Amy on Pinterest

Purse by Danny Brito, who is just amazing (and who I just recently discovered - yay!).

This inspires me to buy old purses and paint on them!
I love it when art becomes wearable!
Also I want this purse really really bad.

So so badly.

And the worst part is, I have the money. I've been saving whatever money I make on etsy sales or online commissions to buy myself some fancy new shoes. I don't have enough for those shoes, but indeed I do for this clutch.

/end silly woes.

More importantly, our roof is leaking.

Last night a crazy storm raged on...and on...and further damaged our already shabby, leaky roof. It is now leaking in 7 different places.

We were up for several hours last night listening to the endless dripping + wind, rain, thunder. We kept having to get up and move towels around to make sure the water wasn't getting on anything important. But when you have a one room apartment, pretty much everything everywhere is important.

This means an interesting week with the landlords.

And yes, I do have that umbrella. And yes, it is mocking us.

But we aren't gonna fret.

Because we have a hot date to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt2!
(not at midnight though because we aren't that cool)

Hope you are all having a lovely (and dry!) Sunday!
I'll be back later this week with a new print + jewelry in the shop!
(And if you haven't already, go ahead and enter my giveaway! Ends July 1st.)

Best Friend!

A few nights ago, I saw my best friend.

We got ice cream and watched bad (but oh so good) TLC reality television (Gypsy Brides, anyone?).

She's pretty much like my other half.

And I love her unconditionally.

We've been best friends for..oh...6, 7 years?

And we experienced the best two summers of our lives together.

We went to Florida. We ate record amounts of Ice Cream Haven (our favorite local sweet treats stop). I made silly mixed cd's and we rolled our windows down and went night driving for hours.

Then we went to Africa together. We told them about Jesus and watched countless give their lives to Him and it was incredible. We saw giraffes eating in the wild(!) and played on the beaches of the Indian Ocean every night before dinner. And that pretty much sealed the "best friends for life" deal.

She was my maid of honor (and totally rocked it).

She is just the greatest.

We are both busy x 2321313 ...so quiet nights relaxing together are few. But when the planets do align and we are able to work out time for each other..it is just grand.

Courtney Louise Hoorman, you're my favorite! I love you!

3 Years

(Adam on his 21st birthday)

3 years ago today,
this crazy wonderful man asked me out on a swing at my best friend's older sister's wedding (you got that?).

And since then my life has consisted of lots of laughter and joy and love...

..and I still can't believe that he is mine.

Now we have been married for almost 9 months and I am still laughing.

All the time.

Because he's a pretty funny guy. : )

Adam Pennington, I am so proud to be your Mrs.

I love you.

Come see me at Candid Gifts!

Hey y'all!

So here's that big news I've been teasing about...
(because it's big to me!)

You now can find Bunnies & Bows by: Amy Rose at Candid Gifts in Belleville, Illinois!

It's been a while since I've had my items in a store, and this is the first time I've sold my artwork anywhere but at my parent's store (or an art show)!

It's owned by the lovely Melissa who is just so great! She goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable the moment you walk in - and is an incredible gift basket maker! When she asked me I was over the moon!

If you are in the Belleville area come check it out! It's right on historic East Main Street (and super close to my house!).

Check out their facebook page as well as their blog!

I dropped off a bunch of new jewelry yesterday. If you see anything you like let me know and I can make more to put on my etsy!

Some of my favorites:

These raindrop earrings...

these big yellow flowers...

..and these pretty rose cameo earrings!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

I'm off to plan my art lesson to teach the kiddos tonight, as well as finish up a few commissions and maybe get a run in. Have a great friday!

My Heart Belongs in Japan + relief print

If you know me in real life, or have followed my blog for even a day, you probably know how incredibly special Japan is to me.

I can only credit God for giving me such a heart and passion for this place and it's people.

I have always loved asian culture as a whole, but Japan for some reason ignites something in me that I cannot explain - I adore it. The people, language, pop culture, and food...oh my word, the food!!

(credit goes to hanako lovely for the cute brushes in this pic!)

My dream of all dreams was to make my way to Japan one day - I didn't care where in Japan, but I wanted to go. More than anything.

And last December God made the way for me to go with The Jesus Film Project.

For 2 weeks, Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan was my home.

It was everything I had hoped for and more...

For two weeks we stood in Santa hats and silly aprons, passing out cd's and invitations to a local church program.

(Krista and Richard in their Santa getup)

(me getting ready to don the santa suit and distribute...this is the face I pretty much had the entire time)

I got to attend a children's christmas party and teach them English colors and numbers...and how to say "Jesus loves me."

(me with a green tea muffin.. again with this face)

For two weeks I ate onigiri (for breakfast!) and steamed red bean buns and bubble tea and bentos. I rode the trains and laughed really loud on them even though I wasn't supposed to.

I missed my husband more than anything, but God was moving there...and I was a part of it.

When the earthquakes and tsunami took place, naturally, I was heartbroken.. and still am.
Even though it's been 3 months, these people are still hurting and broken...
these people still need hope and comfort.

Almost immediately countless artists drew relief prints to help aid those devastated by the events.
I wanted to be a part of it, but thought too hard about it. I wanted to make something that would catch people's attention so I could raise as much money as possible. I kept hesitating and then I thought it was too late.

But it's never too late, right?

So here it is:

The 5 x 7 print is $10, and 50% of the sale will go towards Red Cross Relief Efforts for Japan!

I'll be back tomorrow with my big news! : )

I'm almost ready to host my first little giveaway (which will not be a trip to Paris...or anywhere..sorry loves).
