Mr. Zebra

A lovely thing happened to me a few weeks back.

A student of mine, Emma, brought in this wonderful zebra she painted. She had told me about it the week before, and I encouraged her to bring it to class so we could all see it (she seemed so proud of it!).

Well she brought it, and it, as you can see, it is delightful. I mean he's wearing overalls. And after class she informed me that it was actually painted for me and she wanted me to have it.

This is the first time I've received a painting from a student, and I was just so tickled. I probably freaked out a little too much, but it just means so much to me.

I love being surrounded by children who have a passion for art and are so thankful to have an outlet to express themselves..especially when that passion comes in the form of zebras in overalls. : )

Recent Work

Hello everyone! Here are some recent commissions I've finished up.

The lovely Andy and Stefany! I got to do this one as an anniversary surprise, commissioned by the Mr. for the Mrs. How sweet!

This one was a present for my friend Rebecca's brother and his family. Their baby, Vivian, is the CUTEST.

This one was so fun to do..our dear friends Bryan, Corinna, and their dogs Ollie and Luna. Sweet Ollie passed away so it was so nice to do this for them as a way for them to remember him.

If you are ever interested in having me do a custom piece for you, just email me at bunniesandbows(at)yahoo(dot)com! Or go here and fill out the contact form.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Friday night! I had this past week off from teaching, which was so nice, but this weekend we have our annual student art show so it will be busy busy busy! But I'm getting so excited to see my kids and their work all fancy and on display for everyone to see. They are so talented!

Fancy Rabbits

I just snatched up these two fancy rabbits from Berkley Illustration for our bedroom!

These are so perfect I don't know what to do with myself.

I really just want to cover my walls with these fascinating creatures. Do you see that chipmunk??

He's wearing plaid.

Amazing.

Shop Update!

Just wanted to pop in and say that I added a poop load of artwork to the shop tonight!

Creepy Party!

This past weekend we attended a creepy party hosted by two of our dearest friends Taylor and Blake. Taylor is a lover of all things creepy and this was her first big party that she hosted in her new home! It was the perfect location to have such a party with its old architecture and high ceilings. And her creepy basement!

Whoever brought the cheesy hamburger toasts is forever on my favorites list.

The food was all so much fun..three kinds of finger cookies, pumpkins throwing up guacamole, brain cupcakes, hot dog worms, shrunken head apple cider..thank you pinterest.

Taylor and I decided to be creepy dolls together. She was a dead porcelain doll and I was a sort of stitched up rag doll.

It was really hard for us to be serious here. Mostly because a banana was taking our photo (aka my husband).

I swear he makes the most ridiculous faces. And I love them all.

So many great costumes!

Moo the dinosaur definitely approved of this party. And I did too.

2 Years!

(photo: C Bauer Photography )

October 2nd was our 2 year wedding anniversary. Can I get a what what? Seriously. I cannot even believe it. Time is going by so fast! But it's been an amazing two years!

Our day consisted of breakfast at our favorite place, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin picking (we've decided this is our yearly tradition), apple cider donuts, and dinner at Bailey's Range (aka the best burgers in the universe). Basically we ate a lot.

We also took a mum to Miss Carol's house.  This is where we were married. Miss Carol has always been so good to us. We didn't get a chance to see her but left the mum on her doorstep and took a few pictures on the porch (where we had our ceremony). The mums pictured above were planted by Miss Carol especially for our wedding. <3

We picked our pumpkins at Braeutigam Orchards. We love it here because it's family owned, not too large or too crowded, and they have animals!

You guys..how amazing is this turkey?

We were the only ones on the tractor ride. We felt special!

One for carving, one for eating, and one for decoration. We learned that the blue pumpkin was actually the best for eating. We're excited to try it! Blue pumpkin pie! Haha.

It was so great to have my man all to myself for an entire day!

Strange Folk 2012 pt 2

I just wanted to share a few more pictures from the Strange Folk Festival!

This is my husband's angry gnome face.

This little mushroom house is one of my favorite things!

Angry gnome face again.

I love this festival so much (if you hadn't figured that out already). Can't wait for next year!

Today I am working on a few commissions at Starbucks..I love workdays like this one. For some reason I get so much more done here than in my own studio..haha. Whatever works, right?
