Oh, how I long to play...

...at the beach building sandcastles all day!

I love sandcastles. They are such magical things!

I haven't been to the beach since my family and I vacationed in San Diego about 3 summers ago. And even then we didn't get a chance to swim in the ocean.  *cries*

I know the day will come again soon enough where I get to hunt for seashells and frolic in the waves, but until then, if you're like me, maybe this print will help ease the ache to get sand in your toes? Just for a little while?

------

Side note: I got stung by a nasty something today whilst swimming in my friend Jamie's pool. I didn't see the culprit but boy did it hurt! Left a nice red welt too, just under my arm. Little bug, I have my eye out for you. That is if you're even a bug. o.O

Shop Update and a Day in Soulard!

Before I go off in ramble-land, I would like to inform you all that I had added 3 new prints tonight!

---------------

Today was such a lovely day! We got off to an early start and headed to St. Louis.. more specifically a local farmer's market in a town called Soulard. The same Soulard I endured last weekend in the 100 degree weather during my craft show! But instead I was sweating while buying delicious fruits and vegetables, much of which were locally grown, some even organic. Yum! I didn't take any pictures of the inside however - I was too busy bartering and paying and eating and admiring! We had mini donuts and chicken teriyaki skewers and blueberries.

Then we went to this lovely little eatery:

I had never been - and what a delight!

It stays true to it's name. There is a garden in the back with dining.. and apparently the employees help maintain it.

Naturally we chose to sit outside.

Adam looking thoughtful...maybe a bit surprised at the awesome?

My little brother being adorable/too cool to smile for me.

Iced soy latte. <3

We met a dog named Tyler.

...we had so much fun, we are doing it again tomorrow!

Sleepy time.

<3 to all!

New Commissions! Wee!

Hey guys! I'm off to bed, but before I go I wanted to post some recent commissions I've done!

These two were for a sweet great-grandmother named Miss Beverly. She wants to give them to her great-granddaughters to have something to remember her by! How sweet is that? And how privileged am I to be the one to create that something?

"Guinevere

and

"Ingrid"

- aren't those just the greatest names? And apparently their father named them. Way to go, pops!

And here is one I just finished up today:

"Sisters

A co-worker of mine at the YMCA asked me to draw a picture of she and her sister shopping, because that's what they do best. *wink* Her sister has scoliosis and is getting surgery on her back in July. She wanted something for her sister to look at while recovering.

...and..........that's it! Off to bed now! Hope everyone has sweet dreams! ; )

Soulard Craft Fair!

Whoo! I can't believe I made it through a day as hot as this past Saturday! I believe the high temperature was 96 degrees, but the heat index HAD to be somewhere around the 21838131 gazillion mark. No joke!

Regardless I still had a swell day! Miss Jillian Pye came out to see me, as well as her lovely sister Elise! They were smart and came out before it got too hot and bought some beautiful flowers and blueberries at the Farmer's Market.

And as always, my darling Adam was there to support me and be bored out of his mind (just kidding!) for 6 hours. He deserves lots of prizes and love!

My booth and I.

Shrink plastic earrings. Coming soon the the shop!

Original framed art, framed prints, and greeting cards.

Adam bought himself a Rosemary plant. It pretty much made his day.

..and he pretty much made mine!

I was also lucky enough to share a tent with my dear friend Connie Boone! She is immensely talented and her work (and her friendship!) always brings a smile to my face. I can't wait to have a house of my own one day - I will cover it with her work!

Doesn't her work want to make you do a happy dance??

How Did This Happen?

How did so many days go by without a new post???

Perhaps the wedding planning has something to do with it? Eeep!

Or perhaps it is the fundraising for my mission trip to Tokyo, Japan? Also eep!

BUT I finished my piece for the Drawgasmic exhibit and book and mailed it off today! Ahh, such a great feeling. Probably one of , if not THE most exciting thing I've ever mailed off. This is my first time being featured in a group art exhibit AND my first time ever having my artwork featured in a book!

And here it is!

"Chasing Butterflies" 11 x 8.5 original. You will be able to view/purchase it in person here:

So come and get it. : )

I plan on making some prints of it as well for the shop!

Next up? This little shindig!

I feel like I'm starting a bit from ground zero - this will be the first time I'll be featured in a show without my felt hair bow accessories. As silly as it sounds, I'm nervous my artwork won't be enough to lure in the buyers... my little felt hair bows always do really well, but after making the same thing for six years the excitement is gone. With my art, I never get bored! And because my goal is to become an illustrator, that's where my time should be spent. Maybe a little break will light that felt hair bow making fire within me again? We'll see!

In the meantime, I must get to doodling/crafting!

Hope to see you all in Soulard on Saturday!

Tutu Safari

I wanted to share with you all a commission I recently finished. It's for an adorable mommy-to-be named Stacy and she had the greatest idea - zebras in tutus! She actually bought an almost life-sized zebra for the babies room and put a tutu on it, and really wanted some prints that matched.

I call it "Tutu Safari" and I'm rather sad to part with it...

Back to Basics!

Hey friends!

So something very crucial has recently occurred to me: in less than 5 months I will no longer be Amy Rose Miller (!!!) (October 2nd, 2010)

Therefore I cannot have that domain name anymore...

and therefore I am reverting back to my blogspot webby.

So update your bookmarks! : D

Also - new logo! This is exciting! I have been searching for a great new look for my "brand."

Boy does that take it out of ya! So many possibilites... so many fonts... so LITTLE time!

But at last I think I've come up with something that I really like! I hope you like it too.

The Soulard Market Park Arts & Crafts Fair is coming up!! 16 days!! yikes!

I've got to get to business card ordering, banner making, giclee printing,...and *gasp* could it be, printing a greeting card pack or two??

I've always wanted to expand into cards and invites and the like, but never had the patience to learn the ropes while I was still making my little felt bows.

Now that I'm fully focusing on my artwork, I feel much more patient and excited to start learning the process!

And please continue to pray for blessings for my mission trip! I can't believe in 7 months I will be in Tokyo, Japan - my dream!!

God is really moving and it's amazing how great the response to my artwork has been so far this year - I am truly blessed!

Time for sleep - busy day ahead tomorrow!

-love, Amy
